Raleigh has the most courses per capita at 2.8 per 100,000 residents, while Atlanta has the fewest at 0.8.
ACS 5-year metro population · pulled 2026-11-04
I built this page to answer a simple question. How many courses does a city have for the people who live there? A raw count doesn’t tell you much. Chicago has 79 courses, but it also has more than 9 million people.
So I divide our course count by each metro’s population and report courses per 100,000 residents. More courses per person usually means more choice close to home. It can also mean less crowding on popular layouts.
The course counts come from the FindFrolf directory. Population comes from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. A metro here is the full Census metro area, not just the city limits.
This only counts courses in our directory. If a course is missing, the number runs low. Tell me and I’ll add it.

Course counts come from the FindFrolf directory (all courses), grouped by metro. Population is the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year estimate for each metro's core-based statistical area. Courses per 100,000 iscourse count ÷ (population ÷ 100,000), rounded to one decimal.
This measures course supply relative to population, not raw course count — a metro can have many courses yet rank low per capita if it is very large.
